Color Run

Town Center Color Run - October 20th 5:30-7:00 PM - A Note From PTO

Our Color Run is just a couple of weeks away! Our Color Run is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Funds raised will pay for the classroom grants we fund in November, field trip buses, Field Day, and Teacher Appreciation Week. Here are the details:

The fundraiser runs through October 20th. Every TCE student will receive a free Color Run shirt and be able to participate in the run on October 20th at no cost. Any parents and/or non-TCE kids that would like to participate can register to run for $20 by clicking here.

Each class has created a goal/rewards chart for donations that come in under their name/class. The more the class raises, the more rewards the class enjoys together! You can donate online at www.towncenterpto.org or send cash or check (payable to TCE PTO) in an envelope with your child's grade and teacher. Registering family members counts towards the class donation. Make sure to send out the donation link to grandparents and anyone that would like to donate.

The classes will earn their rewards together, as a team, but the top two earners in each grade will be recognized and get to start their grade's run first.

Pizza can be preordered hereDrinks and frozen treats can be purchased at the run.

If you have any questions, you can email Heather Thurgood at president@towncenterpto.org.

Red Ribbon Week

The 2023 Red Ribbon Week Theme is "Be Kind to your Mind.  Live Drug Free.™" This theme was submitted by Danielle Helm of Kentucky and is a reminder that everyday Americans across the country make significant daily contributions to their communities by being the best they can be because they live Drug-Free!

“I chose this theme because drugs alter our current brain development and hinders further growth. Drugs decrease levels of neurotransmitters in the reward system of our brain, such as Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin, and Endorphins. This can block our brain from naturally experiencing happiness,” said Danielle. “Be Kind to Your Mind. Live Drug Free. ™” is about making positive choices to be happy and healthy - that is being kind to our mind.” -www.redribbon.org

Tuesday 10/24 - Healthy Choices are the Key to a Bright Future (Neon/Tie Dye)

Thursday 10/26 - Let's Team Up to be Healthy (Sports Attire)

What we are learning

Math - Here we go yo, here we go yo, so what, so what’s the scenario? Well, here it is: we will finish representing multiplication by working on skip counting and number lines. Because Mrs. Shelby and Mrs. Naughton perform Broadway-quality multiplication songs on the daily, the kiddos will be able to skip count by 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8 by the time this unit is over, and they can already count by 2s, 5s, and 10s. Using a number line to multiply is not an efficient strategy (no one pulls out a number line and starts multiplying, ya know?), but it is important to recognize all the representations of multiplication. Keep it fresh, 3rd grade!!

Science - We will finish up our dive into forms of Energy.  Up next will be Force and Motion.  We will begin by reviewing what a force is and the different types of forces in our everyday lives.

ELAR - In both reading and writing, we are working in the nonfiction genre.  Our reading skills will facilitate the start of a fun “All About Me” project. In writing we will begin to study the development of paragraphs through stating main ideas and providing supporting details.

Social Studies - In social studies we are working on understanding the roles of citizens, and how we all play our part to keep a community running.
