ANNOUNCEMENTS

Well, it’s almost that time! STAAR is upon us, and your sweet kids have been working hard!!  We  wanted to share a few tidbits that we told the kids about this afternoon in class about our upcoming testing days:
  1. Our rooms gets chilly at times, so please have them bring a light sweater or jacket. We have very little control over how the temperature is in the room at any given time.
  2. Snacks and water will be provided both days by our wonderful PTO. Please do not bring any additional snacks or water bottles to school that day. Our snacks have been selected for both allergies, and for not being too messy around the STAAR test! :)
  3. Please leave all binders and backpacks home Monday and Tuesday. We will not be needing them.
  4. If your child has a cell phone that they bring to school, please leave it at home on testing days. Otherwise, they will be collected during the test and returned at the end of the day.
  5. PLEASE have your child bring (at least) 2 books to school for our testing days for them to read after their test is complete. If they finish early, there is nothing else to do but read, so make sure it’s a good one with a lot of pages!
  6. As a reminder, no parents/visitors are allowed up at school to volunteer or have lunch on testing days.
  7. Please make sure that your child gets a good night’s sleep and eats a good breakfast on testing days.
Also, we sent home a note of encouragement to all of the kids. Please open this with them on Sunday night.

TCE Garden Design Challenge:
We are going to have a Garden Design Challenge in which all learners can turn in drawings, models, paintings, etc. in order to show what they would like for our garden area to look like for TCE. We currently have several beds and have been working with a company, Real School Gardens, in order to find even more ways to incorporate real-world, hands-on applications within our garden to enrich our academic learning.

We are going to have our TCE Student Council work with a committee at the campus for choosing final selections for the overall design. Until then, any ideas are welcome! We are going to work with our Dad's Club/Green Team Volunteers in order to get going, but would love more helpers for when we get to our build!

Our goal is to build and get the designs in place for additional areas of the garden the week of May 15th.

If you would like to be a part of this planning process or building, please fill out the following Google form: Click here for the link!
