  Volunteers Needed For Book Fair!
The Spring Book Fair is coming soon! We need parent/community volunteers* to help with Book Fair Preview (Feb 28, March 1 & 4) and run cash registers, tidy/restock shelves, and help customers find things during Book Fair (March 4 - 8).  We also need a couple of volunteers to help with Book Fair Set-up and Tear Down (Feb 27 & March 8). We appreciate community support to continue this exciting tradition and consumer/financial literacy learning experience for our students! Please sign-up for an available time slot at this link:

*Volunteers must have an approved Coppell ISD background check on file before you will be permitted to help with Book Fair.  A new background check is required each school year.  You should submit the form at least a week before volunteering. You can find the background check form at this link:  https://www.coppellisd.com/domain/17

TCE's 2nd Annual Cultural Night
We are excited to have our 2nd annual Culture Night at TCE.  Last year was such a great success with all the dishes you shared with our TCE community.  If you would like to share an appetizer, main dish or dessert on March 28th please sign up below. We will get back with you with more specific details as the event grows near. TCE will provide sample cups to share the dish you bring.  This event was successful because of all of our families' contributions. Thank you for making our school so great!
Be on the lookout for more information about this event including performances and interactive stations!

Metrocrest Canned Soup Drive
Bring soup cans February 11-25 to the grade level donation boxes located at the end of each hallway.

Parent Newsletter

Ms. Martin sends out a parent newsletter each week with many important announcements about TCE. Click here to check out this weeks newsletter.

What are we learning?

Math

In math we will spend the first few days reviewing 2D and 3D Shape Attributes. On Wednesday the 27th of March we will take our Geometry Post Test. On Thursday the 28th of March we will take the Math Practice STAAR. This is just so that the learners will get a feel of how to bubble, what the test looks like, and feels like. You do not need to do anything special for this practice, but we wanted to keep you updated. The real STAAR test dates are Monday, May 13th for Reading and Tuesday, May 14th for Math.

Language Arts

This week in Language Arts, we will finish up our unit on Inferencing and begin talking about Theme, or the message of a story. We will have another OTW biography text, this time on Benjamin Franklin.

Science

In Science, we will be diving into our new unit, Interactions and changes in the environment. We will start off by understanding habitats and the living and nonliving things that coexist in different ecosystems.

Social Studies

In Social Studies, we will be finishing up our unit on Geography. The learners will be completing their commercials and presenting their state to the class.  Students will also explore the similarities and differences of states in the same region as theirs.
