What are we learning?

Math
In math, we will press on with our multiplication and division unit. We have officially introduced our "fact fluency" timed practice that we will be doing each day. This will not be a grade of any sort, just a way to practice and reinforce memorizing multiplication facts. During class we will start to learn strategies for 2 digit by 1 digit multiplication including the distributive property, partial products, and the standard algorithm.

Language Arts
In reading this week learners will continue to read poetry, understand, and analyze the elements and forms of poetry. We will continue to look at figurative language in poetry, and ask questions about poetry. We will continue to analyze the mood of a poem. We will work on the spelling pattern of dropping the final "e" and adding "ing" to words.

In writing, learners will continue to look at poetry. Learners will continue to use describing words to begin to use their poet's voice to make meaning in their poems and add imagery.

Science
In science, we will finish up our discussion about forces such as pushes, pulls, friction, and gravity.

Social Studies
In Social Studies learners will complete the Unit on Government by using different forums to showcase their understanding of the basic structure of government in our local community, state and nation.
