TCE Garden Design Challenge
We are going to have a Garden Design Challenge in which all learners can turn in drawings, models, paintings, etc. in order to show what they would like for our garden area to look like for TCE. We currently have several beds and have been working with a company, Real School Gardens, in order to find even more ways to incorporate real world, hands-on applications within our garden to enrich our academic learning.

We are going to have our TCE Student Council work with a committee at the campus for choosing final selections for the overall design. Until then, any ideas are welcome! We are going to work with our Dad's Club/Green Team Volunteers in order to get going, but would love more helpers for when we get to our build!

Our goal is to build and get the designs in place for additional areas of the garden the week of May 15th.

If you would like to be a part of this planning process or building, please fill out the following Google form:

ANNOUNCEMENTS

We hope everyone has a chance to come out and enjoy the TCE HOEDOWN this evening. This is a fun, family event and is one of the biggest fund raisers for TCE!!!

Please ask your child if he or she needs headphones at school! It makes using technology a little easier when everyone can hear. 😊

Cafeteria expectations: It is a school-wide expectation that when the lights are off, our voices are off. Please help us with following these when you are eating with your child in the cafeteria

Background Check: Please take a minute to fill out a background check. It only takes a few minutes and the link is below. You will need to have completed a background check to volunteer at school and attend special events and field trips.http://www.coppellisd.com/Page/22

PEEK AT OUR WEEK

Math: In math this week our learners will be exploring customary and metric units of capacity and weight. They will become experts at identifying the correct unit of measure to use and estimating capacity and weight of objects. We will also be reviewing some of our test taking strategies for the upcoming STAAR test.

Science: In science, we will continue to study specific ecosystems. Students will work in groups to determine some basic features of their ecosystems, and how the living and nonliving things work together. We are going to explore the plants and animals in each ecosystem, and their characteristics that allow them to adapt to their environment.

Reading: In reading and writing this week, we will be using our time to start our STAAR review stations. We have 10 class days until the tests on Monday, May 8th and Tuesday, May 9th. We will be reviewing skills like inferencing, author's purpose, summary, poetry, nonfiction text features, characterization, vocabulary, and more. We will have an OTW. 3A and 3B will have their spelling test this Friday, April 28th.

HOMEWORK

Math: Please remember that we have started a new homework routine. Your child should be coming home with a new homework page that will be due on Friday, April 21st. Reflex Math still needs to be done 3 times a week. If you are wanting to do work book pages this week you can work on pages 589-594.

Reading: We will have an OTW. 3A and 3B will have their spelling test this Friday, April 28th.
