ANNOUNCEMENTS

Third Grade Program!
We hope you are able to attend our third 3rd Grade program on Tuesday, April 11th. There is a morning program at 8:30am and a night performance at 6:00. It is wonderful and they've been working so hard! They can't wait to show you! Please have your learners wear jeans, tennis shoes, and their blue 3rd Grade shirts. They can bring a change of clothes if they need. They will need to be at school on Tuesday night 5:40 in their classroom.

Please ask your child if he or she needs headphones at school! It makes using technology a little easier when everyone can hear. 😊

Cafeteria expectations: It is a school-wide expectation that when the lights are off, our voices are off. Please help us with following these when you are eating with your child in the cafeteria

Background Check: Please take a minute to fill out a background check. It only takes a few minutes and the link is below. You will need to have completed a background check to volunteer at school and attend special events and field trips.http://www.coppellisd.com/Page/22

PEEK AT OUR WEEK

Math: In this week our learners will begin exploring all about fractions! They will learn words like numerator and denominator and be apple to apply them. They will also become experts about ways to represent fractions.

Science: In science we will be studying specific ecosystems. Students will work in groups to determine some basic features of their ecosystems, and how the living and nonliving things work together. We are going to explore the plants and animals in each ecosystem, and their characteristics that allow them to adapt to their environment.

Social Studies: This week in social studies we will begin a unit on cultural diversity. Learners will be researching different cultures and then presenting their findings through different ways.

Reading: In reading this week, we will focus on the important comprehension skill of inferencing. As we near STAAR, we will be reviewing essential vocabulary. Please see the Quizlet for our reading STAAR vocabulary here.

Writing: In writing, we will begin a persuasive writing unit. We will choose a topic and go through the writing process to complete our writing.

HOMEWORK

Math: Please remember that we have started a new homework routine. Your child should be coming home with a new homework page that will be due on Friday, March 30th. Reflex Math still needs to be done 3 times a week. If you would like to do workbook pages for this week, they are 55-60.

Reading: We will continue our new Of The Week (OTW) homework. Learners will have one activity each night, then a short comprehension quiz on Friday. Starting this week, we will also be adding vocabulary homework. Vocabulary homework is also due every Friday.

Spelling: Spelling Test Friday, April 14.
