What are we learning?

Math
In math, we will continue our Area and Perimeter unit. We will build upon our knowledge of calculating area using multiplication (A=LxW) to find the area of composite figures by partitioning, using the same formula, and the additive property of addition.

We will continue taking our multiplication fact quizzes on Mondays and Wednesdays. If all 10 facts are correct in 2 minutes, your child will be able to move on to a new quiz the next day we are testing. If they're not mastered, then that same quiz will be taken again until all 10 are correct.  Additionally, any practice with fact fluency that can be done at home is VERY helpful. Each learner has been placed on multiplication and division on Reflex Math for this reason. Flashcards at home also work.

Language Arts
In language arts we are continuing to explore nonfiction texts. We will overview nonfiction text features and how they help us understand what we are reading. We will also dive into main idea and focus on finding supporting details.

Science
In Science, we will begin our second ADI (argument driven inquiry). This is a student led research and investigation project. They will work together in a group to research, develop a claim, collect data, and justify their evidence to highlight a pattern between climate and latitude in countries around the world.

Social Studies
In social studies we will continue to explore economics. We will focus on scarcity and supply and demand and what these look like in our community.
