March 5th - 9th

Welcome third grade families! Thank you for taking the time to read our third grade blog. Make sure you are checking it weekly for calendar updates, what we are learning, and a glimpse at our week in pictures!

What are we learning?

Math
In math, learners will continue to explore and represent fractions greater than zero and less than or equal to one with denominators of 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8 using concrete objects and pictorial models, including strip diagrams and number lines. Learner will also been to understand and explore corresponding/ equivalent fractions.

Homefun: Homework packet; Reflex Math TWO times a week for FIFTEEN minutes

Language Arts

In reading, learners will continue their study on folktales. They will record the folktale elements that they see in various myths. In writing, learners will create a folktale of their own with focus on the editing and revising portions of the writing process.

Homefun: Study for weekly spelling test; Razkids 2 times a week for 15 minutes


Science
Learners will continue to observe and describe the physical characteristics of environments and how they support populations and communities of plants and animals within different ecosystems.


Social Studies
In social studies, learners will continue with their  research project over the different regions of the United States.

Field Trip
Field trip packets and permission slips were sent home this week. Please return the attached envelope with your child's permission slip and money by Friday, March 9th.

Coppell Ed Foundation Run to Fund


Mrs. Hruby and Ms. Kemp are putting together a Town Center team of faculty, parents, and students to participate in the Education Foundation Run to Fund in May. Your children that participate are encouraged to wear their TCE grade-level shirt.
