Town Center's Family Social Emotional Literacy Library
Town Center has an exciting resource for families! We now have an entire resource library focused on Social and Emotional skill development. Themes are divided into 5 categories: Understanding Myself, Managing Myself, Respecting Others, Building Relationships, and Making Decisions.
View the titles here: TCE's Family Literacy Library Titles. Then, select the topic that interests you and complete this form to Request a Family Book Bag. Corresponding conversation starters to help facilitate discussions at home will also be included in the book bag. Books and discussion questions may be kept for two weeks and then returned to Kelly Matlock, TCE's counselor. Please email kmatlock@coppellisd.com with any questions.
Background Checks
We ask that all families complete a volunteer background check at the start of the year. They do not carry over from year to year. Since the background checks take time to process, we ask that everyone complete one in case any type of volunteering opportunity (class field trip, Dad's Club, Room parent, class volunteer, field day, etc.) arises during the year that you are interested in. Please click on the link below to complete it.

Due to a busy week, we did not finish our drama unit! We will be finishing up during the first part of the week and then will move into some test prep strategies. We will focus on reading articles, poems, and short stories through the lens of our literary elements we’ve been practicing all year. Student responses will be measured through multiple choice, short constructed responses and extended constructed responses. We will also be reflecting on our practice STAAR test we took last Friday!
HPLS 3.6A explain how supply and demand affect the price of a good or service
Supporting Standards:
3.6B define and identify examples of scarcity
3.6C explain how the cost of production and selling price affect profits
Fractions on a number line mean we’ll be looking at where fractions live on the number line between 0 and 1.
Decomposing means we will have a fraction sum and have to break it apart into unit fractions. Students will be given a fraction (in this example, it’s ¾), and they’ll have to break it into unit fractions: ¾=¼ + ¼ + ¼ Unit fractions always have a 1 as the numerator and are the most basic level of fraction; they can’t be broken down anymore.
To compose unit fractions, students will be given unit fractions (in this example, it’s ¼ + ¼ + ¼ ) and have to put them together: ¾ would be the answer.
Is your head spinning? No worries, your kids are doing great! If we have time next week, we’ll move into comparing fractions. Big learning happening over here, and I bada da da da, I’m lovin’it!
