30 Year Celebration

Zoo Crew Optional Item for Families
The "Zoo Crew Truck" will be at our Spring Picnic/30th Year Celebration as a fun item for kids which we also get a profit from. In addition to the evening, they will come by earlier that day for any children who order online so they can get their animal made and skip the lines that evening. It's basically a traveling Build-a Bear type experience for kids. We would not do whole class visits like we did for the Kona Ice. This would just be the kids that ordered ducking out of class briefly during a set time frame.

Social Emotional Literacy Library

Town Center's Family Social Emotional Literacy Library

Town Center has an exciting resource for families! We now have an entire resource library focused on Social and Emotional skill development. Themes are divided into 5 categories: Understanding Myself, Managing Myself, Respecting Others, Building Relationships, and Making Decisions.

View the titles here: TCE's Family Literacy Library Titles. Then, select the topic that interests you and complete this form to Request a Family Book Bag. Corresponding conversation starters to help facilitate discussions at home will also be included in the book bag. Books and discussion questions may be kept for two weeks and then returned to Kelly Matlock, TCE's counselor. Please email kmatlock@coppellisd.com with any questions.

Attendance

Background Checks

We ask that all families complete a volunteer background check at the start of the year. They do not carry over from year to year. Since the background checks take time to process, we ask that everyone complete one in case any type of volunteering opportunity (class field trip, Dad's Club, Room parent, class volunteer, field day, etc.) arises during the year that you are interested in. Please click on the link below to complete it.

Each week Ms. Martin sends out her Town Center Principal Newsletter. Please make sure to check out all the important campus-wide announcements in the Principal Newsletter.

ELA -

The final 2 week push is upon us! We will be reviewing all that we have learned and focusing on revisiting those targeted areas of needed growth. Not only will we focus on being prepared with the content, but we will also be working on test taking strategies and feeling comfortable with maneuvering through the app that they will be using.

Math - We will be wrapping up our fraction unit and going out with a bang by learning all about equivalent fractions! Kiddos definitely need to be able to recognize the fractions equivalent to ½ , and usually, the STAAR peeps provide a model to look at (fraction circles or a number line), but we will be discussing and exploring with our own fraction tiles to learn all about this strange concept - that 2 fractions that don’t look anything alike can actually represent the same amount. Bizarre! At the end of the week, we’ll take quite a turn and discuss financial literacy including spending, saving, supply vs. demand, credit, debit, income, the connection between human capital and labor (uuummm what?). I know. It’s a lot. But your child is amazing and will explain everything by Friday. We’ve got this! Super busy days coming up!

Science - We will continue to explore how animals survive in their environments and discussing the interdependence of plants, animals and their environments.
