- APPS/SETTINGS: Please assist and make sure your child is not downloading apps at home or changing their unlock passcode. We've cleaned up our iPads so they functioning properly!
- CHARGERS: We have extremely limited chargers in the classrooms, as chargers were sent home with iPads. Please make sure that your child's iPad is charged each night. If your child's iPad needs to be charged, please send your child to school with your charger.
CHS Homecoming
The CHS Homecoming Parade will be Wednesday, September 21st. Our theme is "Superheroes - Marvel/DC". In support of our theme "SuperHeroes" students and parents are encouraged to wear their TCE Grade Level T-Shirts, Hero Capes, or superhero costumes they might already have at home. *Please note, no costume masks*.
Students are also encouraged to bring scooters to use along the route as it can be a long walk.
It is also expected to be hot out that day so please bring water, Please note that there are no restrooms along the route.
Line-Up Time: 5:30pm
Line-Up Location: The West end of Parkway. We will meet at the corner of Buttonwood Ct and
Minyard Dr and make our way to Parkway to line up for the parade no later than 6 pm.
Start time: 6:30pm
The Parade will move along Parkway from the West, ending at CHS. Once at CHS, we will make our way to the steps in front of the arena where parents who are not walking in the Parade can come pick up their students. We are also great with any parents walking with us!
In an effort to know the parent/student ratio for safety and supervision along the parade route, please complete this google form so we can get an understanding of attendance.

Free/Reduced Lunches
For the last two years, free and reduced meals were provided for all Texas public school children. Beginning September 29th, families must complete an application to qualify for free or reduced priced meals. For more information check out the Coppell ISD Child Nutrition website. Complete your School Meal Application here. Allow up to ten days to process your application.
Math
Estimation Nation! We will estimate sums and differences, which means learning the difference between actual amounts and approximate amounts. It also means learning the difference between estimate (the verb: Let’s estimate baby!) and estimate (the noun: Your estimate is so close to the actual amount!). We are going to work on the Place Value Choice Board to review all our place value skills so that we’ll be ready for the Place Value Post Test, which will happen the week of September 26. Let’s do this!
Science
Changing States of Matter! To add heat or to remove heat…that is the question! :) We will take a closer look at how the addition or removal of heat affects the molecules of matter and causes it to change from one state to another.
Reading/Writing
We are reading the book titled “Wild Robot” with our first unit in reading! Ask your child about it so far! It’s such a fun read. This week in reading we are focusing on challenging texts. We will use the metacognition strategy of visualizing to make predictions based on text evidence.
In writing we are continuing with personal narratives. This week we are also focusing on how to revise and edit our narratives. Our grammar focus is on Proper Nouns and our revision focus is adding details to help our narratives come to life.
We also continue to progress in our cursive handwriting. Your child will learn letters that utilize the c frame including c, a, d, and g as well as how to connect them.
