Color Run
Our Color Run is just a couple of weeks away! Our Color Run is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Funds raised will pay for the classroom grants we fund in November, field trip buses, Field Day, and Teacher Appreciation Week. Here are the details:
The fundraiser runs through October 20th. Every TCE student will receive a free Color Run shirt and be able to participate in the run on October 20th at no cost. Any parents and/or non-TCE kids that would like to participate can register to run for $20 by clicking here.
Each class has created a goal/rewards chart for donations that come in under their name/class. The more the class raises, the more rewards the class enjoys together! You can donate online at www.towncenterpto.org or send cash or check (payable to TCE PTO) in an envelope with your child's grade and teacher. Registering family members counts towards the class donation. Make sure to send out the donation link to grandparents and anyone that would like to donate.
The classes will earn their rewards together, as a team, but the top two earners in each grade will be recognized and get to start their grade's run first.
Pizza can be preordered here. Drinks and frozen treats can be purchased at the run.
If you have any questions, you can email Heather Thurgood at president@towncenterpto.org.

Thanksgiving Baskets
St. Ann’s Catholic Parish is once again sponsoring Thanksgiving basket deliveries (or a pickup option at St Ann’s Church if you prefer). This program provides families in need with a complete Thanksgiving dinner for the entire family. The baskets will be delivered to your home the weekend before Thanksgiving, so it is important that an adult representing the family be at the home between the hours of Noon and 4PM on Sunday November 19th, 2023. The deadline to sign up for a basket is October 20th, 2023.
Please completely fill out the following form by clicking this link: 2023 St. Ann's Thanksgiving Baskets. You may contact Nurse Crenshaw with any questions at kcrenshaw@coppellisd.com or 214-496-7816.

What we are learning
Math - The moment has arrived and we are here for it: multiplication and division, baby! The rest of our math lives begin today, and we can’t wait. We will take a pretest to get a baseline of what we already know about multiplication and division, and small groups this week will center around understanding equal groups (the definition of multiplication) and arrays (equal rows and columns). The best thing parents can do for this unit - and maybe all of third grade math 2023-2024 - is helping your child learn the multiplication and division facts to 10. Here we go!
Science - This week will continue our exploration of forms of energy. Once we have taken a closer look at light, sound, heat and mechanical energy the kids will showcase their learning with an Energy Robot.
ELAR - This week we will celebrate the publication of our first personal narrative. After working through the writing process for several weeks, it is time to look back on where we’ve come from! We will dip our toes into our new unit toward the end of the week which is expository writing.
Additionally we will transition from fictional comprehension skills to information text in reading. We will begin by examining the different ways we read nonfiction text compared to fiction stories.
