Background Checks

We ask that all families complete a volunteer background check at the start of the year. They do not carry over from year to year. Since the background checks take time to process, we ask that everyone complete one in case any type of volunteering opportunity (class field trip, Dad's Club, Room parent, class volunteer, field day, etc.) arises during the year that you are interested in. Please click on the link below to complete it.

Tennis Shoes for PE & Extended Specials Day (CTT)

Please help ensure your child wears appropriate shoes on PE days and Move & Groove (Fridays). Additionally, every other Thursday 3rd grade has extended specials during CTT. The dates are outlined for the remainder of the year below. Thank you for your help in making sure your child is safely dressed for the gym!

3rd Grade CTT Dates for 2025:  4/25, 5/8

Every other week Ms. Martin sends out her Town Center Principal Newsletter. Please make sure to check out all the important campus-wide announcements in the Principal Newsletter.

ELA -

During ELAR this week we will be working on our research skills. We will read nonfiction text while learning to synthesise information. This way we can restate information in our own words while adding our own background knowledge.

Math - Okay 3rd Grade Families, you know what time it is: REVIEW TIME! We will have our Heat Map study on Tuesday so that we can dive into how your child actually did on the practice math STAAR (which was actually the 2024 Released Math STAAR). This will help us determine which TEKS each child understands and which ones need some work. There are some concepts I already know need some practice as a grade level (counting collections of bills and coins, geometry, and strip diagrams come to mind), but I want each child to feel like they’re getting the individual review they need to see success on test day next week. We will spend the rest of this week going over all things STAAR: question types, released STAAR questions, and STAAR app tools and accommodations. We are going to be so ready by April 29 and you are going to be amazed by your kiddo. I already am! #rockSTAARlikeaBOSS

Science - In Science we will explore what an ecosystem is and how living and nonliving things interact with each other. We will then explore some specific ecosystems more closely; Arctic, Grassland, Forest, Desert, Rainforest, Ocean

Social Studies - Our last social studies unit will tie into ELAR as we research historical figures. Students will look at how Our past is related to the present while noticing that Heroes, scientists, entrepreneurs, and inventors have certain characteristics.
