iPad ChargingPlease ensure that your child is plugging in their iPad when they get home and charging it overnight. We have had an issue with a large group of learners in each class coming to school with their iPad dead. This makes charging at the same time hard and distancing even harder. We would love your help with iPads arriving at school charged.
HEADPHONES!We have lots of kiddos who have lost/broken headphones. Please make sure that your child has a working pair of headphones for school.
What are we learning?
Math: You thought last week's math was awesome? Well, get ready, because this week is going to fraction-fabulous! We're continuing to work with equivalent fractions and starting to compare fractions. This week we'll work on comparing fractions with the same denominator. When learning about comparing these types of fractions, we will use fraction strips and models, but don't you worry! We will definitely continue to practice the Butterfly Method, which really amazed all the children: It. Works. Every. Time. If your child is a virtual learner and didn't get paper copies of the fraction strips or equivalency chart, please let your child's teacher know. We are happy to print them and have you come up to school to pick them up.
Language Arts: In Reading the leaners will continue working in their reading club groups and discuss inferencing. In writing, we will discuss the 5 things that a sentence must have/be in order to be complete: Subject, Predicate, must make sense, capital letters and punctuation.
Science: In science, the leaners will be exploring different habitats. They will focus on 2 that they want to learn more about. They will explore the plants and animals within those habitats and will then compare and contrast their habitats.
Social Studies: In Social Studies this week we will be learning about Cyrus McCormick and his invention of the mechanical reaper. The learners will explore how his invention affected the lives of farm workers.
