Announcements

No Visitors 4/9-4/10
We will be administering the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) to learners on Tuesday, April 9th and Wednesday, April 10th.  Fifth grade will take Math on Tuesday and Reading on Wednesday.  Fourth grade will take writing on Tuesday. During these days, all other grade levels will continue with a regular school day.
It is important that we have an environment that is free of interruptions to ensure that our students have the opportunity to do their best on these important days.  In order to ensure a secure and quiet testing environment, no visitors will be allowed on campus for all grade levels.

Due to this, we will not allow lunch visitors these days. You may contact the office on these days if you are in need of assistance and they will be happy to help you.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping our campus and our students to be successful on our testing days!

What are we learning?

Math

In math we will be taking our Fractions Post test on Tuesday the 9th of April. At the end of the week we will review telling time before we start our new measurement unit on Monday the 15th.

Language Arts

This week in Language Arts we will finish up our unit on Myths, Fables and Legends. We will continue our book clubs. Be looking for an exciting announcement about book clubs to be coming out soon!!!

As a reminder, we are continuing to do practice STAAR passages each week in class focusing on different reading strategies. These will be coming home every week or so, and parents can see how their child is doing. Please remember not to focus on what your child missed-- we are dissecting the passages together as a whole class after each child has done the passage independently. We are learning through our mistakes.

Science

In science, we will finish up our learning about food chains. We will also complete our career connection for this unit before moving onto our new unit, Structures and Life Cycles.

Social Studies

In social studies, we are continuing our economics unit. We are going to be focusing on saving money and how budgets can help with this. We will be discussing opportunity cost and how people plan to save.
