Upcoming Dates
- Yearbook Pictures and Yearbooks are FOR SALE! - TCE PTO is looking for your help in gathering photos for the Town Center Yearbook! We set up an easy process for you to share your images from different campus or classroom events. We would love for all families to contribute their images so we can make sure we have equal representation from all grade levels and classrooms! Please use the following step-by-step directions document or video to create a Lifetouch account and begin uploading your images now. Thank you!
- Family Lunch Fridays - Our campus is open each Friday for lunch visitors! When you arrive you will sign in at the front office and receive a visitor badge that must be worn at all times. You will need a photo ID (license or passport). You will be able to eat lunch with your child at the designated tables for lunch visitors. You may only eat with your child. No other learners may be invited to eat with you. You may purchase lunch in the cafeteria or bring a lunch with you. Parents will be dismissed from the cafeteria. You will need to go back through the front office to sign out at the end of lunchtime. Please see Ms. Martin's Principal Newsletter for details on who may eat with your child and a form to fill out for non-parent lunch visitors. No lunch visitors on early release days.
- Background Checks - If you have not had a chance to fill out a background check please fill one out for yourself or update last year's! Click here to register as a new volunteer or confirm your information from last year. This must be completed every school year for you to volunteer at the school. The district will send you an email when your background check has cleared. Any opportunities for volunteering at the school, including holiday parties, will require a cleared background check. Once completed it lasts for the remainder of the school year. When you create your account, make sure to click on the add new application button. (see picture below)

Math
It’s finally here, everyone! My favorite concept of the year! You guessed it: FRACTIONS!! Don’t worry, and please don’t let any bad fraction memory from your school days get you down - your child is going to rock it! We will start by reviewing fractions: numerators (the top number and the amount of pieces being talked about), denominators (the bottom number and the total amount of pieces), and we will move into recognizing fractions in the various ways they’re represented: fractions in a set (¾ of the kids have glasses) and fractions on a number line. The most important thing for them to remember is that fractions represent equal shares and that they are numbers between 0 and 1 on the number line - that tidbit always blows their mind. Guys, this may be the fraction unit, but we’re going to have the full amount of fun! #fractionjokes
Science
Next week expand our space scope to include all of the planets! We will discuss the order of the planets and learn some fun facts about each. We will also discuss why Pluto is considered a Dwarf Planet. There is a fun Hopscotch video/song that we will watch about the planets and by Friday you will probably know it word for word as well! You’re welcome! :)
Reading/Writing
During Reading this week we will continue to dive into the mystery novel each class selected. We will focus on the skills required to make inferences, evaluate details to determine key ideas, and actively listen to clarify information and make pertinent comments.
Our 3rd grade writers will continue writing poetry of a wide variety. We will be showcasing these during open house!
Social Studies
Next week we will finish up our economics unit and move into our study of individuals who have shaped our community. We will focus on key people in history that have made contributions through inventions and their upstander behavior.
