Now that we are in the swing of things we are using our iPads daily.  Please help remind your child to charge their iPad each night.  Also, we are using our headphones daily as well.  Many of the kiddos are in need of a set that they can keep at school. We have already been through quite a few sets of the earbuds. :)

Giving Tree and Canned Food Drive

Last Day is Wednesday, December 15th

Scientist of the Week Schedule

Please make sure to check here to see when your child's assigned week is.  If they haven't signed up and would like to, just send Mrs. Shelby or Mrs. Naughton an email and we will get them added.

Math

Here are the high points for the merriest math of the year: the 2 weeks before winter break!

  • We are about to get down with analyzing analyzing analyzing some dataaaaaa! Pictographs, bar graphs, dot plots, frequency tables…it’s everything you’ve ever wanted to know and more about aaalllllll the kinds of data.

  • We are still using Reflex to assess whether or not your child knows his or her multiplication AND division facts 0-10. We are also assessing on Schoology, as Reflex has had a few issues, and we want to make sure our data is as accurate as possible. (We have been working with the Technology Department on getting Reflex off the Naughty List.) Your child practices multiplication and division daily at school, whether through Reflex or multiplication bingo, so they are not required to practice at home. However, there are more than 100 facts to learn fluently in order to earn MS (met standard) on the next report card that is completed in December (12/17) and sent home at the beginning of January.

  • Function Machines will be constructed on Monday, December 13, and we will use them that week to learn more about number patterns and relationships. Please send in your function machine supplies as soon as you can! Thank you!

Science

In Science we will continue sharing out our survival guides.

Reading/Writing

In reading we will continue discussing theme and comparing and contrasting different folktales. In writing, we will continue writing our own fairy tales.

Social Studies

In social studies, we will take time to look at different places that people live in. We will discuss how humans adapt to their environments.
