ANNOUNCEMENTS
TCE Garden Design Challenge:
We are going to have a Garden Design Challenge in which all learners can turn in drawings, models, paintings, etc. in order to show what they would like for our garden area to look like for TCE. We currently have several beds and have been working with a company, Real School Gardens, in order to find even more ways to incorporate real world, hands-on applications within our garden to enrich our academic learning.
We are going to have our TCE Student Council work with a committee at the campus for choosing final selections for the overall design. Until then, any ideas are welcome! We are going to work with our Dad's Club/Green Team Volunteers in order to get going, but would love more helpers for when we get to our build!
Our goal is to build and get the designs in place for additional areas of the garden the week of May 15th.
If you would like to be a part of this planning process or building, please fill out the following Google form: Click here for the link!
The Auction Chair has received a lot of requests for a digital copy of the class pictures. She has placed the digital copies on the Auction website in the "For Sale" category, starting with item number 1501. Link to the Auction website : https://www.handbid.com/auctions/2017-hoedown/
TCE Family Camp Out—has been rescheduled to next week!!
We are busy getting ready for our Math and Reading Staar test that are coming up soon! If you did not receive the email from your child’s teacher titled “ TOP SECRET” please let your teacher know. This is the reminder that we need the items listed in the TOP SECRET email by Wednesday May 3. Please send to your child’s homeroom teacher, either in an email or up to school in an envelope. Thank you for helping to help us make this a less stressful time for your child as we do our best to encourage them to do the best that the can do!
Please ask your child if he or she needs headphones at school! It makes using technology a little easier when everyone can hear. 😊
Cafeteria expectations: It is a school-wide expectation that when the lights are off, our voices are off. Please help us with following these when you are eating with your child in the cafeteria
Background Check: Please take a minute to fill out a background check. It only takes a few minutes and the link is below. You will need to have completed a background check to volunteer at school and attend special events and field trips.http://www.coppellisd.com/Page/22
PEEK AT OUR WEEK
Math: In math this week we will be reviewing many of the skills we have learned this year for our upcoming STAAR test! This is our last week before the STAAR test, so while we will be reviewing, we will also be spending a lot of time building up and encouraging our learners!
Science: In science, we will continue with our life science unit! Learners have loved releasing butterflies and learning about a butterfly’s life cycle. We will work on food chains and food webs, as well as inherited versus learned traits.
Reading: In reading and writing this week, we will continue to use our time working on STAAR review stations. We have 5 class days until the tests on Monday, May 8th and Tuesday, May 9th. We will be reviewing skills like inferencing, author's purpose, summary, poetry, nonfiction text features, characterization, vocabulary, and more.
We will not have OTW this week but will have a vocabulary page that came home today that is due by the end of next week.
